Open Trails & Routes 

  • LAKE TOMAHAWK, Minocqua, Woodruff, Arbor Vitae, Vilas and Oneida County, and St Germain – paved routes are open year-round.
  • Note: Hwy 47 through Lake Tomahawk is never open to ATV/UTV traffic!  You may cross Hwy 47 to get to another open road or route but you cannot drive down Hwy.

Lake Tomahawk Town ATV/UTV Ordinances

REMEMBER each Town and/or County in the State May Have Additional Laws.

  • 1 All operators of an ATV/UTV shall possess and have in their possession a valid driver's license.
  • 2 All operators of an ATV/UTV shall carry the same liability insurance that is required by Wisconsin to operate a vehicle on Wisconsin roadways and must carry proof of said insurance covering ATV/UTV they are operating with them.
  • 3 The allowed hours of operation are 8:00am to 9:00pm
  • 4 Lights must be on at all times, and approved hand signals must be used whenever the operator intends to change speed or direction.
  • 5 All riders under the age of 18 must wear a helmet.
  • 6 All ATV/UTV operators shall observe a speed limit of 25mph or the posted speed limit, which ever is less.
  • 7 All operators shall ride in single file.
  • 8 Never ride on Hwy 47.
